Song of the Week

Song: “Mythical Kings And Iguanas” Artist: Dory Previn The late film lyricist and singer/songwriter Dory Previn suffered an acutely painful childhood, life long mental health issues, and the notorious humiliation of being dumped by her husband André Previn in 1969 for the nubile charms of a young Mia Farrow. Her brutally honest lyrics reflected her personal struggles and yielded the lonely classics “Theme from Valley of the Dolls” (largely informed by her own pill reliance) and “Come Saturday Morning.” Her seventies solo recordings include the haunting “Mythical Kings And Iguanas” as heard on Monica’s February 19th show on WFMU. Available on Amazon. |
